MIDN 1/c Paul Kim will be commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps this May. Kim hails from Warren, New Jersey and attends Boston University where he studies Advertising in the School of Communications. Kim’s affinity to join the military comes from his father’s inspiration when he told him of his leadership potential. As a Marine Corps officer, Kim hopes “to change young Marines lives and help them become better civilians in today’s society.”
Kim takes the role of a mentor very seriously when it comes to the Midshipmen that surround him. The underclassmen and his peers alike can always look to him for advice and help with anything they need. Kim lives by the idea that taking care of your people over self will serve you great later in life and they will always have your six.
Outside of school and NROTC, Kim plays roller hockey for the club team here at BU. While he isn’t sniping twine on the rink you can find him at his favorite seafood restaurant ordering some New England “lobstah”.
Next stop for Kim is The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia. The Old Ironsides Battalion wishes MIDN Kim the best of luck in his career as a Marine Corps officer and we are confident he will make us proud.
“Leadership to me is inspiration. It’s inspiring people to be the person they want to be tomorrow, not the person they were yesterday.” –MIDN Kim
